Just when I start enjoying myself again. *sigh*
Just got this from my personal wire which is keyed for my “real job”.
Northern Command helps with Gustav evacuations
Associated Press - August 31, 2008 3:14 PM ET
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado’s U.S. Northern Command is continuing to help evacuate people from New Orleans in preparation for Hurricane Gustav.
Northcom and the U.S. Transportation Command have contracted airplanes to evacuate up to 16,000 people from the city.
The airlift started Saturday with the evacuation of about 3,000 people. Northcom spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Gary Ross said those operations were continuing Sunday, with more residents being flown to Nashville, Tenn., San Antonio, Louisville, Ky. and Fort Smith, Ark.
Northcom oversees the military’s homeland defense and supports civilian authorities. It’s headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.Copyright 2008 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
That’s my cue, kids. A job is a job. I’ll be off tomorrow anyway but I’ll be by the phone waiting to see what my job is gonna have me do.
If you’ve got a deity - pray for the people of New Orleans and Louisiana. I really hope they won’t need it.
I’ll let you know if stuff changes. TTFN.
